SilverDust Controller Open Loop

QuickSilver Controls has added open loop operation to its servo controller, the SilverDust. For years QuickSilver has produced servo controllers for microstep motors and now it has optimized the SilverDust to also operate a stepmotor in the traditional open loop configuration. Open loop operation is ideal for slower applications that do not require encoder feedback. SilverDust provides a powerful controller without the expense of an encoder and sophisticated cable. A savings of about $100 (list).
To make putting together open loop systems easier, QCI now sells its stepmotors and cabling for open loop operation.
