QCI adds SilverSterling OEM Drives
QuickSilver Controls, Inc. adds the SilverSterling™ controller to its line of controllers/drivers for NEMA 11, 17, and 23 frame brushless servo motors, DC brush motors and Voice coil actuators, providing a 3.5A RMS x 2 phases continuous drive with 5A peak at 12v to 48v. The SilverSterling provides both RS-485 and CAN communications ports, supporting DMX, MODbusTM RTU, and CANopen®, ASCII and Binary protocols.

QCI extends CiA 402-CANopen Profiles to OEM Drives
QuickSilver Controls, Inc. adds CANopen® DSP 402 (CiA® DSP 402 v3.0) to its OEM line of controllers/drivers for NEMA 11, 17 and 23 frame brushless servo motors, further extending the capabilities by adding encoder following and “hard-stop” homing capabilities as a manufacturer extension to the specification.

NEMA 23 Servo Motor with Improved Efficiency and PowerQCI-A23L-3
QuickSilver Controls, Inc. expands its line of servo motors with the QCI-A23L-3. This servo motor provides almost 33% higher power output capability than the similarly sized motor it replaces. This power increase comes with an efficiency improvement of approximately 15% over the speed range of the motor. Performance is especially improved at higher speeds.

DSP 402 (CiA® DSP 402 v 3.0)QuickSilver Controls, Inc. adds CANopen® DSP 402 (CiA® DSP 402 v3.0) to its line of brushless servo motor controllers. CiA 402 refers to CAN in Automation (CiA) CANopen Drives and Motion Control Profile 402. This profile defines such functions as start-up and homing techniques as well as motion profiles. A host controller, for example a PLC, supporting CiA 402 could command multiple CiA 402 motor controllers from multiple vendors.
CANopen® and CiA® are registered community trade marks of CAN in Automation e.V.

Tightening ApplicationQuickSilver uses its ability to precisely control torque and position to solve tightening applications.
The most common tightening applications are caps or nuts. These types of applications require accurate control of torque and position to avoid stripping, under tightening, over tightening, missing bottles, cross-threading, and mechanical jams.

SEMA: Toyota Tundra/Ducati TransporterQuickSilver’s servo motors used to raise and lower the sides of the bed on the 2008 SEMA: Toyota Tundra/Ducati Transporter.
Toyota partnered with Italian sports- and racing-motorcycle maker Ducati to create the one of a kind motorcycle transport for the 2008 SEMA show. This truck featured Ducati's Desmosedici in the bed and had very cool new features not yet seen on full size pickups.

Winding ApplicationQuickSilver adds winding to its repertoire of features. QuickSilver’s unique ability to handle large inertial loads (large inertial mismatch) allows us to direct drive large product reels. The advanced PVIA™ servo control algorithm provides impressive stability from full to empty reels. Precise torque control of the brushless servo motor and programmable controller’s electronic slip clutch feature (“drag” mode) allows the servo motor to keep constant web tension as wind/unwind reels payout and take up product.

Calgary Zoo Animatronic Lion Uses QuickSilver Servo MotorsAnimatronic technology is roaring at the Calgary Zoo, Alberta Canada, in the form of a life-sized talking, moving male lion. Eleven (11) QuickSilver servo motors animate the figure using a Gilderfluke show controller and DMX512 protocol.

OEM Servo Motor Controller with CANopen®QuickSilver has added a CANopen option to its OEM servo motor controller. CANopen may be configured for peer-to-peer, master or slave. This allows the controllers to share I/O and registers with other CANopen enabled SilverDust™ controllers or 3rd party CANopen devices (i.e. I/O blocks, encoders, PLCs…). For a multi-axis system, connect several IG-Js, make one the master and let the others receive motion commands over CANopen.
CANopen® and CiA® are registered community trade marks of CAN in Automation e.V.
